    About the Ram 1500

Joel Dean purchased this Ram 1500 new for $155,000 (including all on-road costs). Joel Dean would buy this car again because: “This is my second Ram and both have been reliable and performed flawlessly for work and play. So much room in the cabin great tech with AEB front and back, makes it safer for pedestrians and other road users. Secure towing and ride comfort due to having air suspension, or four coils in the lower trims cannot be matched by leaf sprung competitors.”

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

Very reliable. One small issue with the UConnect has been fixed with an update, not hearing any rattles or clunks after 60,000km of driving. I find the servicing relatively cheap being a simple pushrod V8 there’s not a lot that can wrong

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

Really good. It’s smaller than a 2500 and it’s pretty easy to park. My wife will often do her running around in it, and I use it to quote and tow in my business. I frequently take it into Brisbane, Gold Coast, and Sunshine Coast, and never had an issue parking.

How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?

A lot of people complain about this, but my experience at two different dealers has been excellent. I get the feeling it comes down to the dealer doing their job properly rather than Ram Australia being the problem, they have been sending us regular surveys about our dealers so I think they are weeding out the dodgy ones

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

Yes. Obviously cheaper would be better, but this vehicle is essentially getting built twice so you would expect it to be double the cost of an American truck, the Limited is a luxury truck I can’t think of a better interior I’ve experienced

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

Performance is awesome combined with a silky gearbox it’s always in the right gear. Economy is to be expected I average 14L/100km on 35-inch tyres, amazing economy on the highway and the stop/start is instant I don’t even notice it.

What do you think of the technology in your car?

Amazing technology I don’t normally think of American cars as techy vehicles but it has anything a Japanese car has and more. I don’t really use the lane keeping assist but everything else I use quite often including adaptive cruise control

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

Ride is exceptional it’s like driving a lounge chair.

The air suspension is a little firmer than the coil springs but I prefer a bit more of a solid feel anyway, the fact that they have the highest payload of the American trucks is great which is why I don’t know why you would bother with leaf springs like the other manufacturers do.
