Ram Trucks Australia has recalled 166 examples of the DT-generation 1500 pickup, due to a fault which could result in the driver’s airbag not working.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) may have not been welded to the required specifications,” the carmaker said in its recall notice.
“As a result, the SCCM could fail to send an airbag deployment signal to the Occupant Restraint Controller preventing the driver’s airbag from deploying.
“In the event of an accident, the airbag not deploying as intended could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants.”

While this recall impacts the newer-generation DT-series Ram 1500, an identical fault also affects the DS-series 1500, as well as the larger 2500 and 3500, as reported earlier this week.
If you own an affected vehicle, Ram says you’ll be contacted to schedule an appointment with your preferred dealer to have the SCCM inspected and replaced, free of charge.
