Chery is set to launch its new baby SUV – the Tiggo 4 Pro – with sharp pricing, undercutting rivals such as the MG ZS, Kia Stonic, Mitsubishi ASX, and GWM Haval Jolion.

The new Tiggo 4 Pro will start from $23,990 drive-away for the base Urban. For context, none of the aforementioned cars – apart from the base ZS Excite – come in under $25,000 once on-road costs are accounted for.

In addition to the base Urban, an Ultimate trim grade will be offered from launch, with a drive-away price of $26,990.

All variants of the Tiggo 4 Pro are powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 108kW and 210Nm, sent to the front wheels only via a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Standard interior features include a pair of 10.25-inch screens, wireless smartphone mirroring, and dual-zone climate control.

Despite its compact dimensions, Chery’s new entry-level product has 380L of boot space.

The Tiggo 4 Pro isn’t an all-new model – it has been sold overseas for years as the Tiggo 5x, racking up over half a million global sales. It entered production back in 2017, though it has subsequently been updated.

It will hit Australian showrooms in October, taking Chery’s local model count to four.
