The Mazda MX-5 is Mazda's lightweight two-seat roadster and one of the clearest examples of the brand's driver-focused identity. It is built around simple pleasures: rear-wheel drive, low weight, sharp steering and open-air motoring. In Australia it appeals to enthusiasts who want an affordable sports car that feels interactive at real-world speeds, without needing huge power or luxury-car running costs. The MX-5 is not practical family transport, but that is not its purpose. It suits weekend drives, club events and buyers who value feel over outright numbers. Few new cars offer such a direct, simple sports-car experience.

The MX-5 captures a dying type of driving experience that makes the simplest of drives at any speed as enjoyable as you can possibly find on the market today or at any point, giving you the joys of old school open top motoring with the reassurance of modern day reliability and automotive…
