The redesigned 2021 Ford Escape is set to launch in Australia in the third quarter of 2020, with prices ranging from $35,990 before on-road costs for the base Escape to $52,940 before on-road costs for the ST-Line PHEV.
A plug-in hybrid variant gives the Escape one-up over the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, while all other Escapes have a standard turbocharged 2.0-litre engine when most rivals don’t even offer one as an option.

Engines
The 2021 Ford Escape comes standard with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 183kW and 387Nm mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This engine is available with either front- or all-wheel-drive.
The 2021 Ford Escape PHEV uses a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine mated to an electric motor and a 14.4kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined output is 167kW.
Fuel Economy
The 2021 Ford Escape consumes 8.6L/100km on the combined cycle, while the Escape PHEV consumes 1.5L/100km and has a fully-electric driving range of over 50km.
Dimensions
The 2021 Ford Escape measures 4613mm long, 1729mm tall and 1882mm wide.
Safety
The 2021 Ford Escape has yet to be tested by ANCAP.
