The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been recalled for a brake-related defect.

“The front brake hoses may contact the fender liner of the front axle while driving the vehicle, this may result in failure of the brake hoses. Resulting in leaking brake fluid and loss of braking performance or loss of braking ability,” Mercedes-Benz says in its recall notice.

“A loss of expected braking performance increases the risk of an accident causing injury or death of vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Mercedes-Benz dealer to organise a free inspection and repair as soon as possible.

This recall follows another earlier in 2021 for brake fluid leaking at the rear axle brake calliper. That affected 2882 vehicles from model years 2018 to 2021.

Late last year, Mercedes-Benz also issued a recall for 127 model year 2020 Sprinters as the outer layer of the brake hoses at the front and rear axles may have been damaged during the production.

Mercedes-Benz has also issued recalls during 2021 for defective glow plugs and incorrect welding.
