The 2021 Jaguar E-Pace mightn’t look much different to last year’s model, but Jaguar says underneath its subtly changed exterior lies a different platform.
It’s moved to the Premium Transverse Architecture shared with the latest Range Rover Evoque and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
It arrives locally in the first quarter of this year with a pared-back, petrol-only range, with Jaguar ditching last year’s diesel-powered D180 models.
The range is now topped by the 300 Sport, powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system.
Total outputs are 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque, with Jaguar claiming a 0-100km/h time of 6.9 seconds.
Exterior styling changes include revised bumpers and tail lights, a new grille and redesigned LED headlights, with Pixel LED headlights optional.
The Jaguar E-Pace is the latest Jaguar Land Rover product to upgrade to the company’s new Pivi Pro infotainment system, controlled via a new 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen.
Interior changes include a new steering wheel and drive selector, a tweaked centre console, and the use of more soft-touch materials.
The 300 Sport gets Jaguar’s second-generation Active Driveline AWD system, which uses two independent, electronically-controlled wet-plate clutches to distribute torque across the rear wheels. The system can send 100 per cent of that torque to either rear wheel in 100 milliseconds.
All 2021 Jaguar E-Pace models now come standard with proximity entry, a 3D surround camera, adaptive cruise control, adaptive speed limiter, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and traffic sign recognition.
The E-Pace is on sale now.
