Ford has taken the wraps off the all-new 2022 Ford Everest, and we had the chance to get up close and personal with Ford’s big seven-seat SUV at a new facility within Ford’s Melbourne-based proving ground.

But, what’s the all-new Ford Everest like in person? One of the first things I noticed when standing next to the car was that it felt ‘bulked up’. It looked wider at the bottom and top edges and gave a more pronounced feel in person.
Just like the all-new Ford Ranger, the use of C-clamp LED daytime running lights continues and there’s a range of headlight options. This includes matrix LED headlights that allow the car to run on high beam without dazzling other drivers.
I really liked the look of the sweep-around LED tail lights too. The frosted lens runs from the body through to a panel attached to the tailgate.
The tailgate also houses a clear plastic cover over lettering that reads either ‘Everest’ or ‘Platinum’ depending on the specification you run with.
At the front the Platinum also looks the part with brushed aluminium highlights and a 3D-effect waterfall grille.
The bigger mouth at the front is designed to accommodate additional cooling and the increased 3500kg braked towing capacity.
Inside the cabin, the Platinum really looks the part with open-pore wood trim along the dashboard and doors, while the centre of the cabin features Ford’s big 12-inch vertical display with Sync4 connectivity.
While we didn’t get a chance to properly drive the car and the vehicle we spent time with was a pre-production car, the signs are positive. It feels like a huge step forward from the last Everest and we can’t wait to get behind the wheel down the track.
