The Volkswagen T-Roc is a little more expensive for 2022, though it’s gained one extra feature.
Volkswagen is belatedly rolling out DAB digital radio across its 2022 model ranges. It’s the only change to the T-Roc for 2022.
UPDATE 21/01/22 – There’s been a price increase ranging from $800 to $900, depending on the trim level.
There have been no spec changes, besides the previous addition of DAB digital radio across the range.
Later in 2022, the hot T-Roc R is set to make the trip Down Under. Its introduction should coincide with a mid-life update for the range.
It’s expected to use the current ‘EA888’ turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque, slightly less than the newer Mk8 Golf R and Tiguan R will put out (235kW/420Nm).
In the meantime, the T-Roc is available in just two variants: the front-wheel drive 110TSI Style and the all-wheel drive 140TSI Sport.
It’s currently one of the few Volkswagens not experiencing supply issues, but sales haven’t been quite as impressive as that of the smaller T-Cross.
That model has fewer rivals in the light SUV segment, while the T-Roc competes in the small SUV segment that’s brimming with options.
To the end of August 2021, Volkswagen has sold 3483 T-Rocs. That puts it in 11th place in the segment in terms of sales, though it’s outselling older nameplates like the Suzuki Vitara and Jeep Compass as well as the Skoda Kamiq.
