Genesis will launch its flagship Electrified G80 electric sedan in Australia this September, with just a single, highly specified variant to be made available.
The 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 is available only with a dual-motor powertrain and the Luxury package as standard, and is priced from $145,000 before on-road costs.
This is over $30,000 more expensive than the G80 3.5T with the optional Luxury package fitted.
The Genesis Electrifed G80 is exclusively powered by a dual-electric motor setup that produces total system outputs of 272kW of power and 700Nm of torque.
Genesis claims the Electrified G80 can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds.
It’s fitted with a 87.2kWh battery pack with a claimed range of up to 520km on the stricter WLTP cycle.
The Electrified G80 has an 800V electrical architecture with a maximum DC fast-charging speed of 350kW, and also features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature that allows owners to plug in electric appliances at a maximum output of 3.6kW.
Customers who buy an Electrified G80 also get the option of a complimentary five-year Chargefox subscription, or a complimentary home AC charger with free installation.
Some key differences the Genesis Electrified G80 has over the 3.5T with the optional Luxury package includes a solar roof instead of a panoramic glass sunroof, a heat pump system, unique front and rear bumpers, and unique 19-inch alloy wheels, among others.
The Genesis Electrified G80 is one of three electric vehicles (EVs) the South Korean luxury automaker is planning to launch locally in September.
The Genesis GV60 shares its dedicated E-GMP architecture with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, while the Genesis Electrified GV70 is an all-electric version of the brand’s mid-sized SUV.
When the Electrified G80 launches in Australia it’ll compete against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQE and Audi e-tron GT, as well as the updated Tesla Model S when it’s introduced.
Price excludes on-road costs.
