Ford Australia upped prices of its Ranger utes by between $500 and $1200 for 2024, and for what it’s calling model year 2024.5 there are increases again.
Updated models entered production in March, and will arrive in showrooms around mid-year.
For information on the Ranger Raptor, check out our separate Ranger Raptor price and specs article.
UPDATE, 02/05/2024 –Ford has increased prices of most Ranger models for MY24.5 from June 1, 2024.
“The price adjustments are consistent with the evaluation of market conditions we regularly undertake across our product portfolio, which take into consideration a number of different external factors such as currency and material cost considerations,” said a Ford Australia spokesperson.
UPDATE, 18/01/2024 – We’ve updated this article with changes for MY24.5.
The Ford Ranger lineup starts at $36,880 before on-road costs for the XL single cab-chassis 4×2.
In addition to price increases, Ford has made some specification tweaks.
It confirmed in April that automatic high-beam was being removed from all bar the Platinum and Raptor; it remains optional on the Wildtrak.
Also removed is Ford’s MyKey functionality, a feature that allows you to program a maximum speed limit for other drivers among other settings.
Ford also confirmed earlier this year it was axing the XLS 4×2 dual-cab ute, the XL Bi-Turbo 4×2 dual cab-chassis and XL Bi-Turbo super-cab 4×2 ute. The limited edition Wildtrak X has also finished its run.
The option package range has also been simplified, with off-road packs for 4×2 XL and XLT models removed from the option list, while those remaining have received price increases.
Feature additions announced earlier this year include a standard Towing Pack and Tech Pack for the Ranger XLS.
As on the related Everest, the Ranger gains Pro Trailer Backup Assist. It’s standard on the Wildtrak, Platinum and Raptor, and available as part of the 4×4 XLT and Sport utes’ optional Touring Pack which increases in price from $1290 to $1650.
“The driver ‘steers’ the trailer via the outer ring of the drive mode controller on the centre console,” explained Ford advanced driver assist systems engineer Zack McIntyre.
“As the driver turns the dial, the steering wheel, which the driver doesn’t need to touch during the manoeuvre, turns to direct the trailer where it needs to go.”
The system is activated with the press of the trailer icon on the drive mode selector.
Ford has expanded the availability of its Flexible Rack System, previously standard only on the Platinum and Wildtrak X.
The sliding rack can be locked into one of five preset locations along the length of the Ranger’s tub.
You can now specify the Sport with it, deleting sports bar and load box access points; it’s also optional on the Wildtrak, removing the sailplane and box rails.
The base Ranger XL now comes standard with heavy-duty suspension, with thicker rear springs and new front and rear dampers with a revised tune.
