The Subaru Solterra has been given a huge price cut in Australia – and it's come before the first cars have even been delivered.
Subaru Australia has treated its first electric car to a massive price cut… before the first customers have even taken delivery of their cars.
The Solterra range will now kick off at $69,990 before on-road costs for the base AWD model, and extend to $76,990 before on-roads for the AWD Touring.
That represents price cuts of $8000 and $7000 respectively. Anyone who’s already ordered a Solterra will automatically receive the updated price.
The base Solterra AWD is still more expensive than the base Model Y ($65,990 before on-roads), but boasts all-wheel drive where the Tesla is rear-wheel drive only.
Subaru’s decision to slash the price of its electric SUV follows in the footsteps of a similar move by Ford, which late in 2023 – before the first vehicles reached customers – cut Mustang Mach-E prices by up to $7000.
As previously detailed, the Australian-specification Solterra range is only available with a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup producing 160kW and 337Nm. Claimed range is 414km on the WLTP test cycle.

The related Toyota bZ4X, which recently received a running change, is set to launch locally in February 2024 and is available in other markets with a single-motor setup.
If this single-motor variant comes to Australia it will likely undercut the dual-motor Solterra.
Included in the manufacturer’s list price for the Australian-specification Solterra is a 60-month/75,000km service plan, five years of roadside assistance, carpet mats, a cargo tray, as well as a 2kW AC charging cable with 8 amp wall plug.
The 2024 Subaru Solterra AWD comes with the following:
