Most Audi SUVs have a coupe-style counterpart, so it was only a matter of time before the electric Q6 e-tron got one too.

The Audi Q6 Sportback e-tron takes the mid-sized electric SUV, due on sale here in the first half of 2025, and gives it a more rakish roofline.

The electric SUV ‘coupe’ will make its in-person debut at next week’s Paris motor show.

We’ve contacted Audi Australia to confirm when it’ll come here.

It rides on the same Premium Platform Electric (PPE) as the Q6 e-tron, and shares its 2899mm wheelbase.

Audi says the Q6 Sportback e-tron’s styling has a roofline that echoes the first-generation TT coupe and a “streamlined drop of water”, with the SUV boasting a drag coefficient of 0.26Cd – better than the 0.28 of the regular Q6 e-tron.

The sleeker styling results in a maximum WLTP driving range of up to 656km for the long-range, single-motor performance variant; this same powertrain in the Q6 e-tron SUV has a claimed range of 641km.

Base and performance models are rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive models have a rear torque bias for improved driving dynamics.

Passive Frequency Selective Damping is standard, with adaptive air suspension available.

While the Sportback has a sleeker look outside than the regular Q6 e-tron, inside they’re effectively the same.

Both body styles feature an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. Also optional is an augmented reality head-up display and a 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The infotainment system, which uses Android Automotive OS, features available embedded apps like YouTube, and an AI-supported digital assistant that uses ChatGPT if it can’t answer your general knowledge query.

Audi notes ChatGPT can’t access vehicle data and all questions and answers are deleted in the interest of data protection.

There’s a ‘soft wrap’ that extends from the doors and across the dashboard to the centre console, and is available in fabric and microfibre.

There are also sustainable materials used in the cabin, with S line models featuring recycled fabric for the soft wrap, as well as Draft – fabric made from 100 per cent recycled polyester – across the headliner, pillars and sun visors.

In terms of boot space, there’s 64L under the bonnet and 511L in the rear, the latter figure expanding to 1373L with the rear seats folded.

Audi offers Sportback versions of its Q3, Q4 e-tron, Q5, and Q8 e-tron SUVs. The combustion-powered Q8 is arguably a Sportback version of the Q7, too.

The Q6 e-tron is one of a growing number of vehicles based on the PPE chassis architecture, co-developed by Audi and Porsche. This also includes the Porsche Macan EV, as well as the Audi A6 e-tron that’s due here in the first half of 2025.
