Interested in a Ford Transit?

Ford has updated its full-sized Transit range, with more tech and, depending on the model, a new transmission and greater towing capability.

First arrivals of the updated range will begin late in the third quarter of 2024, and Ford says additional specifications will be released closer to launch.

Technically, Ford isn’t calling the updated range a 2025 model, instead referring to it as a MY24.75.

Gross combined mass (GCM) and braked towing capacity are up for the following models:

    ModelGCMBraked towing capacity
    Transit 350L LWB FWD van6000kg (+1750kg)2750kg (+950kg)
    Transit 350L LWB RWD van7000kg (+900kg)3500kg (+750kg)
    Transit 430E RWD single-cab-chassis7000kg (+900kg)3500kg (+1100kg)
    Transit 430E ELWB RWD van7000kg (+900kg)3500kg (+1100kg)

Ford also says there have been minor increases to payload numbers for load-hauling models bar the E-Transit, though it hasn’t published figures.

The six-speed automatic in the front-wheel drive 350L model has been nixed in favour of an eight-speed auto, which Ford says results in greater efficiency and a smoother driving experience. It also shifts to a rotary gear selector.

You can no longer get a Transit in Australia with a manual transmission, which means the base price has climbed by $3000 – although the entry-level, front-wheel drive 350L auto is only $500 more than the outgoing model.

All models get an 8.0-inch semi-digital instrument cluster, tyre-pressure monitoring, keyless start and a 5G embedded modem with FordPass connectivity, while all models bar the dual rear-wheel 430E models get an electronic park brake.

All bar the single-cab-chassis get a surround-view camera, though the cab-chassis model does gain front fog lights and front parking sensors in addition to the already standard reversing camera.

Visual changes to the Transit are few, comprising new black badges and a “simplified” Blue Oval design.
