The GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV hasn’t yet arrived in Australia, but prospective buyers are already being incentivised to buy the plug-in hybrid SUV through a handful of limited-time bonuses.

GWM has announced an introductory discount of $2000 on the Haval H6 GT PHEV, bringing its nationwide drive-away price down to $53,990.

Early buyers will also be eligible to receive a GWM home charger at no extra cost.

While these incentives are available as introductory offers to any buyer, GWM has also announced a pair of loyalty bonuses for existing customers.

Haval H6 GT PHEV buyers who already own a GWM vehicle are eligible for a $1000 loyalty bonus, while those who trade in their existing GWM can receive a $3000 trade-in bonus.

To be eligible for this introductory offer, vehicle contracts need to be written by March 31, 2025. GWM has previously said the Haval H6 GT PHEV is due to arrive in showrooms between January and March.

The introduction of the offers come just as BYD wraps up its $3000 bonus and free charger incentive for the rival Sealion 6, which is priced from $48,990 before on-road costs.

The GWM Haval H6 GT PHEV is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 110kW and 230Nm, mated with two electric motors at the front plus another at the rear with 135kW and 232Nm.

Total system outputs are 321kW and 762Nm, while the 0-100km/h sprint takes a claimed 4.9 seconds.

It features a large 35.4kWh battery pack, offering electric range of up to 180km on the NEDC cycle. GWM says that with a full tank of fuel and a full charge, the Haval H6 GT PHEV has more than 1000km of range.

The battery can be charged at up to 6.6kW using AC power or 48kW using DC power, with the latter allowing it to be charged from 30 to 80 per cent in “as little as 26 minutes”.

As with the petrol-only Haval H6 GT, the PHEV is all-wheel drive and sold in Ultra guise.

The Haval H6 GT PHEV will be entering an increasingly competitive market, with sales of plug-in hybrids reaching a record high of 26,163 deliveries in 2024 – 100.2 per cent higher than the year prior.
