The Hyundai i20 N is getting a modest update, and it’s coming to Australia even as the hot hatch is axed in Europe.
CarExpert understands the updated hot hatch will arrive here around mid-year.
It was originally due to debut in June or August 2023 and arrive in Australia around now, but delays have meant an official reveal has yet to occur.
Photos uploaded to Instagram by Nadir Araçlar show a right-hand drive Hyundai i20 N in Türkiye, where the hot hatch is built.

The images show the facelift will be minor, with the existing i20 N’s ‘chequered flag’ grille inserts appearing to be replaced by simple black tiles.
There are also a set of new-look 18-inch wheels, adopting a machined face akin to the i30 Sedan N.
This particular example is finished in Dragon Red, which has been available as a $595 cost-option paint colour since the i20 N went on sale locally in late 2021.
Order books for the i20 N were closed in Australia during 2022 due to overwhelming demand, and it’s local demand for the hatchback which is keeping it in production.
Pre-facelift i20 N 
Last month, Hyundai announced it would end production of the i20 N and its larger i30 N sibling for the European market, but supply would continue for other markets.
Presently, the i20 N is also sold in New Zealand, South Africa and the Middle East.
It’s understood the Hyundai i20 N’s turbocharged 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine will be unchanged, continuing to develop 150kW of power and 275Nm of torque. Drive is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
Last year, 637 Hyundai i20 Ns were sold in Australia, only just beating the Ioniq 6 electric sedan as the brand’s lowest-selling new model in local showrooms.
