South Korean carmaker KGM SsangYong is expanding its Australian lineup in the second quarter of 2025, launching the mid-sized Actyon SUV to rival the best-selling Toyota RAV4.
Based on the same platform as the slightly smaller Torres SUV, the Actyon will hit the market as a more upmarket offering.
Local pricing for the KGM Ssangyong Actyon has not yet been confirmed, but we estimate the new model will start from around $45,000 drive-away. Official pricing and specification information is expected closer to launch.

That pricing would pit the Actyon up against the RAV4, Mitsubishi Outlander, Honda CR-V, Nissan X-Trail, and Hyundai Tucson in the mid-sized SUV segment.
In terms of size, the Actyon most closely resembles the Outlander and CR-V, measuring 4740mm long, 1910mm wide and 1680mm tall with a 2680mm wheelbase.
While those aforementioned rivals offer the option of seven seats, the Actyon is strictly a five-seater with a hint of Range Rover in its exterior styling.
The Actyon is powered by the same 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the Torres, producing 120kW of power and 280Nm of torque. Power is sent to either the front or all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Interior tech is also carried over from the Torres – the Actyon features a 12.3-inch digital instrument and 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Premium features include quilted leather upholstery, suede trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel, as well as 32-colour ambient lighting.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the Actyon nameplate in Australia – the original Actyon SUV was sold Down Under until 2011, while the Actyon Sports ute survived until 2015.
The new Actyon will become the fifth model in KGM SsangYong’s local model range, joining the mid-sized, unibody Torres and Korando SUVs, as well as the body-on-frame, seven-seat Rexton SUV and Musso ute.
SsangYong Australia rebranded to KGM SsangYong Australia last year, retaining SsangYong within its name unlike in other markets.
The SsangYong brand has been a fixture in the Australian automotive scene since the mid-1990s, operating as a factory-owned and backed operation since 2019, with a national headquarters and parts distribution centre in Melbourne.
