Mercedes-AMG has spiced up the A-Class with the launch of the bright and brash A45 S Limited Edition.

Boasting eye-catching green paintwork and yellow accents, the Limited Edition brings aesthetic and aerodynamic upgrades over the regular A45 S, as well as the exclusivity that comes with a limited production run.

While Mercedes-Benz Australia hasn’t revealed how many examples will be coming to local showrooms, it has promised the Limited Edition is set to be offered “in strictly limited numbers”.

Available to order from today, the new Limited Edition wears a price tag of $128,400 before on-road costs – a $7400 premium over the car it’s based on.

Many of the headline upgrades are apparent upon first glance, with the Limited Edition wearing AMG Green Light Magno exterior paint – a finish plucked straight from the AMG GT super coupe.

If that wasn’t striking enough, yellow accents can be found on the exterior, and black racing stripes adorn its top and side.

Both front doors gets a large ‘A45 S’ decal, while Limited Edition-exclusive 19-inch AMG forged wheels in matte black with contrasting yellow flange and rim spokes feature on each corner.

As standard, all Limited Edition models are equipped with both the AMG Night Package and Night Package II. The former colours the front splitter and wing mirrors in black, while windows behind the B-pillar are dark tinted.

The Night Package II blacks out the radiator trim and all exterior badging.

Mercedes-AMG insists the Limited Edition isn’t merely a sticker pack – it also comes with an AMG Aerodynamics Package including a fixed rear wing.

Developed in a wind tunnel, the aero enhancements are claimed to “increase downforce and improve handling characteristics at high speeds”.

Moving into the cabin, the A45 S Limited Edition doesn’t let up on its colourful aesthetic.

There’s yellow stitching and embroidery to be found on the AMG leather performance seats, door panels and instrument panel, while the steering wheel is trimmed in leather and suede with yellow stitching.

The door sills illuminate the AMG logo in yellow, and the floor mats feature ‘45 S’ lettering and yellow stitching.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the Limited Edition is a direct carryover from the base A45 S, continuing to produce 310kW and 500Nm.

Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with drive sent through an all-wheel drive system, Mercedes-AMG claims the A45 S Limited Edition can complete the 0-100km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds.

At more than $130,000 drive-away, the A45 S Limited Edition is the most expensive hot hatch on sale in Australia today, significantly dearer than the turbocharged five-cylinder Audi RS3, which starts closer to $100,000.
