Look out, Toyota LandCruiser – the new Nissan Patrol is almost here.

Nissan’s US division has issued another teaser for the off-roader, showing off its blocky front end alongside a first-generation Patrol.

It follows a teaser from Nissan in the Middle East previewing the car’s rear end, which will feature vertical tail lights linked by an LED light bar.

In a previous video uploaded to YouTube, the senior vice president of Nissan global design Alfonso Albaisa said the new Patrol will be “bigger, bolder and more striking” than anything in the nameplate’s history.

This is the latest in a series of teasers from Nissan, which will whip the covers off the new Patrol on September 4 in the UAE.

The new Patrol was recently spied testing in Australia, travelling in convoy with a current-generation model and a Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series Sahara.

Like the Infiniti QX80, the new Nissan Patrol will likely be powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo petrol V6 engine, producing 336kW of power and 698Nm of torque.

    That’s up 38kW and 138Nm on the current Patrol’s naturally aspirated 5.6-litre V8, and up 109kW gain – but down 2Nm – on the 3.3-litre V6 turbo-diesel powering the LandCruiser 300 Series.

Nissan’s new engine will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission instead of the existing seven-speed, and a choice of rear- or four-wheel drive overseas.

It’s expected to remain four-wheel drive-only in Australia, as it has been almost exclusively for its entire run in local showrooms.
