Ram Trucks has ripped the covers off its updated range of Heavy Duty pickups early, though it’s keeping some details quiet for now.

Until now the refreshed 2500 and 3500 had only been glimpsed in camouflage, but Ram has elected to release imagery early given that the unmistakable vehicles will be shedding disguises for open-road testing of the cooling system.

Details surrounding design, powertrain and technology updates will come at a later time.

All three variants revealed sport revised headlights and reshaped side mirror lights.

The front grille of the HD has been beefed up, with extra horizontal slats, while the Rebel model can be distinguished by its combination of horizontal and vertical grille slats.

While some of the detailing is a bit fussier up front, Ram has kept the same bulging bonnet as the current 2500 and 3500, and the front bumper appears unchanged.

Only the Rebel has been shown from the rear, revealing a refreshed tail light design.

Nothing is known about the interior of the updated HD, although it’s likely to introduce technology debuted on the new 1500.

That includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, with the option of an additional 10.3-inch front passenger screen.

It’s unclear what will power the new Heavy Duty range.

In the US, it’s currently available with a 6.4-litre Hemi petrol V8, though Ram’s recently revealed 1500 update saw the lighter-duty pickup lose its Hemi V8.

In Australia, the 2500 and 3500 are offered exclusively with a 6.7-litre turbo-diesel inline six producing 276kW of power and 1152Nm of torque.
