The Toyota GR Corolla is more potent and more expensive for 2025, though it now offers the choice of an automatic for the first time.
The 2025 Toyota GR Corolla is now on sale in Australia, bringing performance upgrades, cosmetic tweaks, the option of an automatic transmission, and increased prices.
Toyota unveiled the facelifted GR Corolla in August, gaining an eight-speed automatic transmission also available in the updated GR Yaris to be sold alongside its existing six-speed manual gearbox.
Available only in GTS guise – as the flagship, two-door Morizo Edition has been axed – the GR Corolla is now priced from $67,990 before on-road costs, a $3800 increase.
Automatic examples start from $70,490 before on-road costs, making it the most expensive two-pedal Corolla ever sold in Australia to the tune of more than $30,000.

Its turbocharged 1.6-litre three-cylinder engine has received the tune from the Morizo Edition, which means it now produces 221kW (no change) and 400Nm (up 30Nm).
Power continues to be sent to all four wheels.
Toyota has also given the GR Corolla a new face, with its revised front bumper claimed to not only be more aerodynamic but also to provide better cooling capabilities than the pre-update model.
According to Toyota, this includes better direction of air to the brake ducts, reducing the risk of overheating when on track.
Changes under the skin include a retuned suspension setup – claimed to improve the GR Corolla’s handling under acceleration through corners – as well as a revised anti-lock braking system calibration, more direct steering, and sharper clutch pedal engagement in manual versions.
The carbon-fibre roof from the Morizo Edition has also been made standard, which Toyota claims – in conjunction with the new suspension – has resulted in a 13kg cut to its kerb weight.
