Meet the McLaren supercar edition destined only for Australia.
McLaren Special Operations has unveiled the Daniel Ricciardo Edition 720S, named in honour of the Aussie Formula One ace.
Only three will be made, all painted in the same Papaya Spark orange and Burton blue paint as Daniel’s 2021 MCL35M F1 car.
Other unique bits include carbon-fibre sills inscribed with Ricciardo’s signature, dedication plates, Ricciardo’s race number 3 etched on the ‘dihedral’ doors, and the Australian flag adorning the front haunches.
Cool, mate.
“One of the great privileges of driving for McLaren is getting behind the wheel of many of the brand’s exhilarating supercars and while each offers something unique, the 720S is the absolute benchmark,” Ricciardo said.
I’ll bet he’s beaming even wider than usual now that he has a McLaren road car named after him.
“Following McLaren’s outstanding performance with a landmark one-two finish for the team at the Italian Grand Prix, it’s the perfect time to reveal this limited series in celebration of the Aussie driver,” said McLaren’s commercial director George Biggs.
“The 720S is a fitting model to celebrate Daniel’s achievements and we’re delighted to see it adorned with the Australian flag crafted by MSO.”
The trio touch down at the McLaren Sydney and McLaren Melbourne dealers in quarter four of 2021.
