BMW and Mini have launched a tiered ownership program called Beyond.
Once separate, this ownership program aims to bring both BMW and Mini together under the same umbrella.
The first tier of the Beyond program is free upon the purchase of a BMW or Mini vehicle and is more or less the same ownership package as before.
Every BMW and Mini is backed by a three-year/unlimited kilometre warranty, roadside assistance, emergency calling, while owners can use the dealership cafe facilities.
The first tier of the Beyond ownership program also allows access to digital services through the My BMW or Mini mobile applications.
These apps can deliver real-time updates and are able to control certain functions of the vehicle remotely.
For plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehicles such as the Mini Electric and Countryman PHEV, as well as the BMW i4, iX3 and iX, the app can display a whole raft of information about the battery charge state.
It can also remotely lock and unlock the vehicle, flash the headlights and ventilate the cabin through the app.
The second tier of the Beyond program, based on the existing BMW and Mini Service Inclusive programs, offers owners a 20 per cent discount on genuine parts at BMW workshops.
It also offers servicing packages for all internal-combustion, plug-in hybrid and electric BMW and Mini vehicles.
Also available are vehicle care and vehicle detail packages.
The vehicle care package includes between three and 10 express washes, depending on the package you get.
The vehicle detail package on the other hand includes one or two express vehicle details and a vehicle care kit for at-home cleaning and touch-ups.
BMW and Mini Beyond vehicle care and detail packages prices are listed below:
- Three express washes: $120
- Six express washes: $240
- 10 express washes and one cosmetic repair voucher: $500
- One express detail and one vehicle care kit: $250
- Two express details and one vehicle care kit: $500
- Two express details, one vehicle care kit and one cosmetic repair voucher: $600
Optional on the second tier of the Beyond ownership program is the Explorer package.
This package allows owners to rent a selection of genuine accessories such as a roof-mounted cargo carrier for up to 12 days annually.
Owners can take their vehicle into BMW workshops and get these accessories fitted for them.
The Explorer package is priced at $449 and includes access to the following genuine accessories:
- 320-litre roof box
- Two touring bike holders
- Ski and snowboard holder
These two tiers to the Beyond ownership program are just the start, as later in 2021 and into 2022 BMW and Mini will be announcing more packages and tiers that will be added.
“What we offer now is just the tip of the iceberg and there is a lot more to come,” said Dr. Reiner Meierbeck, General Manager of Aftersales for BMW Group Australia.
BMW is continuing to offer a three-year warranty even as many luxury brands move to more generous coverage.
These include brands such as Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo, which have moved to five-year warranties.
Audi was offering a five-year warranty program up until June 2020, when it reverted back to its existing three-year warranty.
