Los Angeles has been ravaged by wildfires which have claimed the lives of at least 25 people and destroyed approximately 12,000 homes, and many residents have rushed to save their most valuable possessions before escaping.

That’s extended to vehicles, and while many in fire-ravaged areas like Pacific Palisades had to leave their cars behind, one owner was caught on camera hurrying to save his valuable vehicle shortly before the flames reached his doorstep.

In a post on Reddit, user Ashamed_Skill_3517 posted footage taken from a doorbell camera showing a Californian man and acquaintances moving a Tesla Model Y out of a driveway.

A few seconds later, a Porsche 911 S/T backs out of the garage and drives off, with the driver – reportedly its owner – prioritising the limited-edition sports car over his electric SUV.

It’s understood everyone involved in the removal of the Porsche from the house was unharmed, though the owner’s decision to put himself at risk to save the one-of-1963 911 S/T could have ended in tragedy.

An image posted by the Reddit user showed the house was decimated after the fire. It’s not known whether they returned to collect the Tesla or not.

While the Porsche 911 S/T starts from US$290,000 (or A$660,500 in Australia), its limited availability has led to sellers asking more than US$500,000 (A$800,000) for secondhand examples in the US.
