The Chery Omoda E5 was already one of the most affordable electric SUVs in Australia, but a limited-time bonus has now made it even cheaper.
From January 10, Chery is offering a $6000 bonus for buyers of the Omoda E5. It’s yet to announce an end date, only saying the bonus is available for a limited time.
This means the Omoda E5 BX now starts from $36,990 before on-road costs rather than its regular $42,990 list price. The Omoda E5 EX meanwhile has dropped to $39,990 before on-road costs.
MG is currently offering its base ZS EV Excite for $36,990 drive-away, but this is for model year 2023 examples ahead of a replacement SUV arriving during the second quarter of 2025.

Chery’s limited-time $6000 bonus also comes just a day after BYD announced it was launching a more affordable version of the Atto 3, with the reduced-feature Essential variant to start from $39,990 before on-road costs.
Both versions of the Chery Omoda E5 are powered by a 150kW and 340Nm electric motor on the front axle, fed by a 61.1kWh battery with a claimed 430km of WLTP driving range.
It’s backed by a seven-year, unlimited-kilometre vehicle warranty, which extends to eight years for its high-voltage battery.
Capped-price servicing is available for the first seven visits at 12-month or 20,000km intervals, totalling $1586.
The Omoda E5 is covered by the same five-star ANCAP safety rating as its petrol-powered Omoda 5 counterpart.
Prices for the turbo-petrol Omoda 5 start from $27,990 drive-away and stretch to $36,990 drive-away.
