Korean luxury brand Genesis doesn’t shy away from bright metallic trim on its cars, which makes its new G80 Black quite a departure.
Arriving in Australia in 2025, the G80 Black is the fourth vehicle from the brand to get the black-out treatment – albeit only the first in Australia.
Essentially all exterior trim has been blacked out, including the front grilles, the front emblem, and the window and bumper trims.

The inner side bezels of the headlights have also been blacked-out, as has the cover for the forward radar, while the rear lettering is darkened – though it’s finished in dark grey and not black.
It rides on 20-inch wheels with a gloss black finish and floating centre caps.
Look inside and – yep, you guessed it – the cabin is black.
Not only does that mean a black dashboard and black quilted upholstery, but even the buttons and switches on the dashboard and centre console.
The speaker grilles, badging, sill plates and even the paddle shifters are also finished in black.
Instead of gloss-black inlays, however, Genesis has used real wood trim with a black finish.
Genesis hasn’t confirmed pricing or specifications for the Australian-market G80 Black.
The G80 was updated earlier this year with a mild exterior nip-and-tuck and an overhauled interior featuring a 27-inch display.
It’s still offered with a choice of turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder and twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 petrol engines.
An updated version of the Electrified G80 – an electric version of the sedan – is due here during 2025.
Genesis sold 57 G80s in Australia during 2024, putting it narrowly behind the Audi A7 (60 units) but well behind the Audi A6 (280), BMW 5 Series (614), and Mercedes-Benz E-Class (381).
