The Ford F-150 has been hit with four new recalls, following its problem-plagued rollout in Australia.
Since the RMA-converted pickup launched in Australia in December 2023, it has been the subject of seven recalls and two stop-sale notices.
The latest recalls relate to the Ford F-150’s lighting fixtures and autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system, which were found to be non-compliant with certain Australian Design Rules (ADRs).
All examples of the Ford F-150 are affected by a fault which can cause its AEB system to not reactivate after an ignition cycle per the requirements set out under ADR 98 (Advanced Emergency Braking for Passenger Vehicles and Light Goods Vehicles).
“The disabling of the AEB system and inaction of this driver aid system could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury to vehicle occupants and other road users. Vehicles are not compliant with the ADR 98,” the recall notice said.
Each Ford F-150 variant is also non-compliant with ADR 13 (Installation of Lighting and Light-signalling Devices on other than L-Group Vehicles), as the pickup’s courtesy lamps, fog lamps and daytime running lamps fall foul of the regulation.
The side direction indicator lamps on long-wheelbase (LWB) F-150 XLTs and Lariats were also found to be non-compliant with ADR 06/00 (Direction Indicators), however this does not impact short-wheelbase (SWB) versions.

If you own an affected Ford F-150, Ford Australia says you’ll be contacted in writing to schedule an appointment with your preferred dealer to have the non-compliance faults rectified, free of charge.
As reported last month, owners of affected F-150s were compensated with five years or 75,000km of complimentary servicing if their pickup was delivered or contracted by May 6, 2024.
Ford is also providing monetary compensation to F-150 owners, with varying amounts depending on which variant they purchased.
The monetary amounts are as follows:
- XLT SWB: $1000
- XLT LWB: $1350
- Lariat SWB: $2150
- Lariat LWB: $2500
Ford F-150 deliveries to customers have resumed, providing the vehicles had the necessary rectification work completed before delivery.
