New South Wales Police didn’t have to put too much effort into bringing this Subaru Liberty to a rest, after damage to the vehicle caused itself to stop.
On January 15, Liverpool City Sector Highway Patrol officers pursued the Subaru through Mount Pritchard and Cabramatta West after its driver failed to stop for a random test.
The driver reportedly had a minor collision with another vehicle, resulting in its front-left tyre de-beading from the wheel, though the driver continued to evade police despite driving on just three inflated tyres.
As a result of the flailing rubber, the Subaru’s wiring loom became entangled in the wheel, leading to the car stopping. This sparked a fire which was quickly put out by police.

Despite no longer having a car, the driver attempted to run from police but was soon arrested.
The 42-year-old male was found to be an unaccompanied learner, and the Subaru was unregistered.
He was refused bail and charged with not stopping in a police pursuit while driving dangerously, driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle on public roads, not giving particulars to another driver after being involved in a collision, and being an unaccompanied learner without L-plates on display.
“Make good decisions. These are offences that can be dealt with by receiving fines on the roadside,” said the New South Wales Police Force.
