The wild-looking Tesla Cybertruck gets a lot of attention, even completely stock. So of course it needed to be gold-plated.
Zack Nelson from the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything was asked by a sponsor to gold-plate their Tesla Cybertruck, giving it an even more outlandish exterior finish to the stainless steel panels that are used on every example of the electric pickup.
The process began with removing all non-stainless steel items from the Cybertruck’s body to best access the metal underneath, which then led to prep work being started.
The 13-minute video details the rest of the application process, resulting in a 24-carat gold finish on the pickup’s exterior.
And we know what you’re thinking: how much does something like this cost?
According to Mr Nelson, about US$60,000 (A$90,150) was spent on the gold-plating process. For context, the featured Cybertruck Foundation Series is priced at US$102,235 (A$153,600).
The video finishes with a clear wrap being applied to the Cybertruck’s exterior, designed to protect its now expensive panels from wear and tear.
