GWM is set to refresh the Haval Jolion lineup with a facelift for its pure petrol models while it works on bringing a new product, the Haval Jolion Pro (aka Chitu or Red Rabbit), to replace the hybrid models.
A refreshed GWM Haval Jolion has already appeared in government approval documents, wearing revised front and rear styling.
It features an updated version of the combustion-powered Jolion’s front fascia, aligning it visually with the Thai-market Jolion Hybrid. Nonetheless, our Jolion Hybrid will be replaced by the Jolion Pro.
That car has already been spotted in Australia and is undergoing testing. It’s now set to arrive around the same time at the new petrol Jolion in the near future, with an announcement expected in the coming weeks to confirm the exact timing.
The sportier-looking Red Rabbit has been on sale in China since 2021. It’s almost identically sized to the Jolion, riding the same 2700mm wheelbase and measuring just 2mm shorter overall at 4470mm, though it’s 57mm wider.
Although full specifications of the new Jolion Hybrid are yet to be confirmed for our market, in other right-hand drive markets such as South Africa the vehicle is offered with a 139kW/375Nm four-cylinder hybrid powertrain.
The interior of the vehicle is also likely to be similar to other right-hand drive markets, meaning it will look like a regular Jolion, rather than the left-hand drive versions which have a unique interior.
