Honda has previewed the design of its future electric vehicles (EVs), confirming they will make a dramatic departure from the Japanese brand’s current model lineup.

The Honda 0 Series EVs were first previewed in computer-animated concept form last year, both in sleek booted Saloon and people-mover Space-Hub guises.

Overnight, Honda revealed the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the latter of which came as a surprise as it had not previously been teased, though its design is based on that of the Space-Hub.

The two EVs preview future models which are due to launch in North America from 2026, followed by Japan, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

Honda Australia has previously said it has no plans to bring the 0 Series models here.

The 0 SUV’s front-end design features a unique stepped element, rather than a completely smooth face. An illuminated and revised Honda badge sits between two lets of 15 LED headlights.

The 0 Saloon, meanwhile, has a more sloped frontal design, with the clear aim of reducing wind resistance to increase driving range. Its headlights are covered when not in use, with sliding panels revealing the units when activated.

Both models feature near-upright rear-ends with high rooflines compared to the height of their wheel-arches, making them appear even larger at the back.

They also feature similar cabins, complete with wide panoramic displays, side mirror camera display screens, rectangular ‘yoke’ steering wheels, and plenty of glass to give the impression of space.

A recent preview of the 0 Series models showed the interior of the EVs could include a feature which replicates the instrument cluster from past Honda sports cars such as the S2000 and NSX, as well as their exhaust noise which is played through the car’s speakers – similar to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N

The 0 Series EVs will also debut a new operating system, named Asimo OS. It pays tribute to the name of Honda’s ASIMO (Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) humanoid robots which ceased being made in 2018.

Honda also claims the 0 Series models will feature Level 3 semi-autonomous driving technology, allowing drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel and eyes off the road, depending on conditions. AI and LiDAR-based systems will operate the advanced driver assistance technology.

But it’s under the skin where Honda is making the greatest advancements.

Last year it committed 10 trillion yen ($96.25 billion) towards EV development until early 2032, and the 0 Series models will spearhead Honda’s attempt to increase its market share in the EV space.

These developments include thinner battery packs and smaller electric motors than seen in current Honda EVs, reducing weight and increasing driving range.

Autocar reports that rear-wheel drive 0 Series EVs will be powered by a 180kW electric motor, while dual-motor all-wheel drive versions will develop up to 359kW.

A nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery with an undisclosed capacity will reportedly offer more than 480km of driving range.

Honda has previously said its new-generation high-voltage battery cases will also be six per cent thinner, thanks to the adoption of Megacasting and 3D friction stir welding (FSW) technology.

It’s not yet known whether the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV will be exclusive to Honda, which is set to merge with embattled fellow Japanese brand Nissan by mid-2026.
