The Hyundai i30 Sedan N’s success on the race track has inspired a new special edition variant, packing equipment inspired by the multiple title-winning racing model.
Hyundai revealed the Elantra N TCR Edition over the weekend, based on the car we know as the i30 Sedan N and which is sold as the Avante N in South Korea.
CarExpert understands it’s firming for a local launch, but is as yet unconfirmed for an Australian debut.
The i30 Sedan N is used as the base vehicle for Hyundai’s TCR racing exploits across the globe, competing against high-performance front-wheel drive models such as the Honda Civic Type R, Peugeot 308 and Cupra Leon.

While the TCR racer features significant chassis, bodywork and mechanical upgrades to become competitive, the special edition i30 Sedan N takes inspiration from its track-only sibling without compromising its ability as a road car.
This includes the fitment of an adjustable carbon-fibre swan neck rear wing, forged 19-inch wheels (with a design inspired by the TCR car’s wheels) and four-piston front brake calipers, an increase on the single-pot sliding units on the current model.
South Korean buyers get to add TCR Edition graphics, while all examples available globally get an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel with a Performance Blue 12-o’clock marker, Performance Blue seat belts, and unique TCR Edition badging.
There are no changes to the i30 Sedan N’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, which in Australia produces 206kW and 392Nm, driving the front wheels through either a six-speed manual or eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It’s also understood that outside of the forged wheels, there are no weight savings for the TCR Edition.
If it does come to Australia, expect a premium over the i30 Sedan N’s current $52,000 before on-road costs list price.
The i30 Sedan N recently became the first model to win two TCR Australia titles, after Josh Buchan successfully defended his 2023 title with a championship in the 2024 season.
Elsewhere, the Elantra N TCR has won the 2022 World Touring Car Cup, the 2023 and 2024 TCR World Tours, and taken class titles in the 2022 and 2023 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.
