South Australian police have charged a 29-year-old man for dangerous driving and extreme speeding after the hoon posted footage of his antics on social media.

Police allege the man uploaded footage of himself driving his Ford Falcon at up to 177km/h in a 60km/h zone on Main South Road, McLaren Vale at around 6pm on July 6.

According to police, additional investigations by Traffic Services Branch officers led to them attending his address on July 31, with the man subsequently arrested and charged with “a number of traffic offences including driving at an extreme speed and driving unlicensed”.

He’s also been charged for alleged separate incidents on August 14, 2023 and July 6, 2024.

Despite being unlicensed, he was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice, while his modified Ford Falcon was also impounded for 28 days.

He’s due to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on September 12.

In South Australia, exceeding the speed limit leads to a $1895 fine and a nine demerit point penalty, while motorists who have their vehicle impounded for 28 days have to pay $1246 in fees to have it released at the end of the period.

The state also has the power to seize and crush vehicles, however it appears this will not be the case for this Ford Falcon.
