Dashcam footage has captured the moment a 25-year-old motorcyclist was run over by an Audi A4 in an alleged road rage incident in Melbourne.
According to dashcam footage obtained by 7News, the incident occurred on February 10, 2024 at 4:47pm. Based on the GPS coordinates from the video, it appears the incident took place on Thompsons Road in Cranbourne North.
7News reports the dashcam footage was taken by a nearby Uber driver. It shows the motorbike rider, Harley Robinson, come up alongside the A4 and appear to punch its side mirror.
The 21-year-old Audi driver can be seen speeding up and running into Mr Robinson, who flies off his motorbike.
The motorcyclist was not only injured from this impact, but was also reportedly struck by oncoming traffic.
The Audi driver reportedly stopped after the incident. Police are investigating the matter and are appealing for witnesses to come forward, though no charges have been made yet.
7News reports the motorcyclist went to hospital and is in a stable condition.
“The impact of this incident has been profound, and Harley is facing a physically and mentally challenging road to recovery, which can be life-changing for a young 25-year-old,” said Mr Robinson’s brother Jacob on a GoFundMe page.
