Mercedes-Benz has recalled 947 examples of its Sprinter van as drivers may encounter difficulties parking it.
“Due to a software issue, the transmission park function may not engage as intended. If this occurs it could result in unintended vehicle movements,” the company says in its recall notice.
“An unintended vehicle movement increases the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle operator and other road users.”
Mercedes-Benz advises the manual parking brake can still be engaged.
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to book in with a Mercedes-Benz dealership for a free inspection and repair.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Mercedes-Benz’s customer assistance centre on 1300 300 896.
