MG Motor Australia is recalling 5168 examples of the HS Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) and HS +EV, due to a manufacturing defect that may cause the nut for the electrical ground stud to detach, causing the wiring beneath the floor to overheat and potentially cause a fire.
This recall affects MG HS PHEV and HS +EV vehicles produced from 2021 to 2022. It’s worth noting these are the same vehicle but have different names.
“Due to a manufacturing defect, the carpet underlay may be positioned between the nut and the electrical ground stud,” says the company in its recall notice.
“If the nut detaches overtime due to vibrations whilst driving, it could cause the wiring beneath the floor to overheat and it may result in a fire inside the vehicle.”
