Peugeot Australia is now taking expressions of interest for the 508 GT Sportswagon Plug-In Hybrid ahead of its arrival in the second quarter of 2023.
The 508 GT Sportswagon joins the 508 GT Fastback and 3008 GT Sport Plug-In Hybrid AWD in the brand’s local PHEV line-up.
Notably, Peugeot has supplied images of the current 508 and not the recently revealed facelift. The company has yet to confirm local launch timing for the update.
There will only be a single plug-in hybrid Sportswagon launching which will offer a “striking style, dynamic driving experience and wagon practicality that 508 owners love with the addition of electric motor benefits,” says the brand.
The drivetrain for the Sportswagon remains the same as its Fastback counterpart, with total system outputs of 165kW of power and 360Nm of torque. The engine combines a 133kW PureTech engine with an 81kW electric motor.
Peugeot claims it has 55km of electric-only range per European WLTP lab testing, and can do the 0-100km/h dash in 8.2 seconds.
Pricing has yet to be released for the 508 Sportswagon PHEV however based on the premium the Sportswagon body style carries over the regular GT Fastback, we could expect a price tag of around $84,000 before on-road costs.
“We believe the additional benefits of plug-in hybrid technology will further enhance the local appeal of our Sportswagon,” said Kate Gillis, managing director of Peugeot Australia.
The Sportswagon will be the only wagon in its segment to offer a PHEV variant locally, though Volkswagen has said it’s looking at introducing a PHEV version of its Passat.
