American Special Vehicles has recalled 1902 examples of the 2021-2022 Ram 2500 and 3500, due to an issue with the air heater intake which can result in a compartment fire.
“Due to a manufacturing issue, the relay for the air heater intake may experience an electrical short. This may occur when the ignition is ON or OFF and could result in an engine compartment fire,” says the company in its recall notice.
“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident, serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders.”
If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact an authorised Ram dealer to have the vehicle inspected and if required, have the air heater relay replaced, free of charge.
If you have any further questions, you can contact Ram Trucks Customer Assist on 1300 681 792.
