Mecum Auctions is auctioning off a 1993 Mazda RX-7 from The Fast and the Furious franchise this month.
Mecum estimates the value of the vehicle at between US$175,000 to $250,000 (A$262,231 to $375,187). It’s set to go up on the auction block this month in Indianapolis.
The RX-7, driven by Vin Diesel in The Fast and the Furious, underwent a makeover for the 2003 sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious movie where it was driven by Amaury Nolasco.
For the sequel, it gained a Versus body kit, yellow exterior graphics, a J-Spec fibreglass bonnet, RO_JA R2-5 wheels, Greddy muffler and tip as well as a revised interior with LED strip lights.
It also features a flamethrower exhaust, which is still fitted to the car.
The engine of the vehicle remained stock, with Mazda’s 13B 1.3L twin-turbocharged rotary with 190kW of power, mated with a five-speed manual transmission. However, six-cylinder Toyota and four-cylinder Honda exhaust sounds were added in post-production.
The new owner will receive paperwork including VIN verification, proof the vehicle starred in the film, as well as an outfit worn by Orange Julius actor Amaury Nolasco.
Mecum says the RX-7 has received US$40,000 (AU$59,675) in repairs and maintenance, including work on its transmission, engine and wiring.
