One of only eight Mercedes-AMG Ones to come to Australia has arrived, with the F1-powered hypercar soon heading to its new Melbourne home – and we have good news if you want to check it out.
Owned by trucking magnate Lindsay Fox, the circa-$3.8 million Mercedes-AMG One was posted online ahead of its arrival at the Fox Classic Car Museum in Docklands.
From July 31 it’ll be displayed alongside other rare and interesting vehicles from Mr Fox’s collection including a Lexus LFA and a Ferrari Enzo.
The latter is the only one in the world with a red body and yellow roof, reflecting the colours of Mr Fox’s Australian truck fleet.
Of the 275 Mercedes-AMG Ones due to be built, only eight are coming to Australia, and none of them will be road legal for more than two decades as they are built in left-hand drive only.
Powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid V6 – derived from Mercedes-AMG’s Formula One cars which dominated from 2014 until 2021 – and four electric motors, the hypercar currently holds the lap record for production cars at the famed Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit.
In 2022, GT racing ace Maro Engel piloted the hypercar around the 20.832km track in six minutes and 35.183 seconds, dethroning the Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR’s record by eight seconds.
Mercedes-AMG is understood to be setting up for another attempt at the record, having noted its previously fast lap was posted “despite less-than-ideal” damp and dirty track conditions.
