And you thought your car was loud.

A Mitsubishi Colt from Italy has been modified with an extra-large exhaust capable of reaching 127 decibels.

The group of YouTube creators which also brought the world’s lowest car partnered with a local Italian company called Big Marmitte – which translates to Big Mufflers– to see how loud a Colt can be.

The custom exhaust, according to te YouTube video description, is “30 times” larger than the factory-fit unit.

It’s also louder than a Dodge Hellcat, which can reach 108dB with its supercharged V8.

The video starts with the team drafting where the new exhaust would go. The guys used a marker to single out a large circular hole on the right-hand side of the car’s rear. Thanks to a large electric saw, a chunk of the car’s tailgate and rear bumper bar were removed.

Next, the team brought out hand-crafted, BBQ gas-tank-like cylinder and welded it onto the vehicle.

Of course, fitting the exhaust is one thing – testing it is another.

According to a phone decibel meter, at a 10 metre distance the exhaust produces a maximum of 127dB of sound.

Given Bayside Council’s new proposed restrictions on loud vehicles, you would want to hope this car stays well away from Sydney’s south…
