About the Genesis GV60
John N purchased this Genesis GV60 new with additional options for $122,000 (including all on-road costs). John N wouldn’t buy this car again because: “Great car, terrible service. Navigation system stopped working after 9 months. Called many times but no response from Genesis. Also, squeaky brakes and so far 3 recalls for the car, 2 for software(not to fix the nav system) and one for seat belts. My advice would be to wait for a year or so till Genesis get their act together”
How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.
The car in general has been very good. Brakes squeak in reverse, several recalls and no navigation system for three months, but other than that it’s great.
Very fast, very quiet, and very comfy. I would give the car 10 for reliability except for the issues I listed.
What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?
This is tough to give a good score given the bad experience with Genesis in trying to deal with outstanding issues.
The lack of response from Genesis has been the major issue with owning a GV60. If the issues had been promptly responded to and rectified, I would give it a 10 out of 10.
It is worth noting that one of the times I rang their service line, they apologised for the lack of response as they have a lot of recalls to deal with! That might be something to consider. Real shame, as the vehicle itself is fantastic.
How has the purchase and aftercare experience been with your car?
I have given this section a score of five, as the purchase experience was excellent but the aftercare has been awful, as I have outlined above.
It has its first service in a couple of months, and I’m told all the issues will be dealt with at that time (no navigation, recall for seat belts and squeaky brakes) and if that’s true, then that’s something, but it’s really soured my experience with the car and with Genesis.
Are you happy with the price and features of your car?
Absolutely. It is worth every penny (if all working properly). Incredibly quiet, luxurious and quick.
If it weren’t for the issues I’ve had with the service side, I would be gushing about this vehicle. I’ve driven some other electric vehicles that are cheaper, and I would rather pay the extra for the features of this car
What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?
Performance is 10/10. Instant response and stupidly quick. Economy is subjective, as it depends (like any car) on how you drive it.
Genesis supplies a free home charger, so I charge it on my solar panels during the day, so it costs almost nothing.
What do you think of the technology in your car?
The tech is fantastic, except the navigation system, which disabled itself after nine months.
Digital side mirrors, amazing dual displays, massaging seat, amazing camera vision all around the car. It would be great if Apple CarPlay was wireless and if it had over-the-air updates.
What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?
The most comfortable car I’ve ever driven, and I’ve owned a lot of comfy cars. So quiet and smooth, it’s crazy good.
Handling is great in a straight line, but you can’t help noticing the weight when you go round corners. Not bad, but you cant beat the laws of physics.
