The BYD Dolphin is a small electric hatchback designed to make EV ownership more accessible. It sits above the Atto 1 and below BYD's larger SUVs and sedans, giving buyers a compact, easy-to-drive option with a practical five-door body. The Dolphin's strengths are urban efficiency, low running costs and a cabin that feels more modern than many budget-focused small cars. It is not aimed at performance-car buyers, though higher-output versions offer stronger acceleration than the entry model. For commuters, first-car buyers and households wanting a second car, the Dolphin is one of BYD's most approachable EVs and an important part of the brand's Australian growth.
