BYD is reducing pricing across its electric vehicle range by up to $5900 as it continues to rise up the sales charts.
The Dolphin hatch is now up to $5900 cheaper, the Atto 3 mid-sized SUV up to $2509 cheaper, the Seal medium sedan up to $3758 cheaper, and the Sealion 6 medium SUV up to $3000 cheaper.
As previously reported, BYD has also discontinued the Atto 3 Standard Range and Dolphin Dynamic in favour of new, more affordable Essential variants with fewer features.
The BYD lineup now opens at under $30,000, with the Dolphin Essential ringing up at $29,990 before on-road costs.
BYD hasn’t announced any pricing changes for the new Shark 6 plug-in hybrid ute for model year 2025, with first customer deliveries commencing just this week.
In addition to price cuts, BYD has also made some tweaks to the Seal. It gets “more responsive automated suspension” in Performance guise, marketed under the DiSus-C name, while all models get an electric sunshade for the panoramic glass roof.
BYD also says it’s rolling out a “refined colour palette, tailored to reflect customer preferences based on existing sales data”.
The Dolphin is the most affected, losing all its exterior paint colour options and now being offered exclusively in white or grey with a grey and black interior. The Sealion 6 also loses its Azure Blue exterior finish.

BYD sales were up 64.5 per cent in 2024. The brand sold 5751 Atto 3s, 2116 Dolphins, 6393 Seals and 6198 examples of the Sealion 6, which was launched during the year.
