The 2022 BMW X2 small SUV coupe is unchanged in specification for the new model year.
The range starts at $51,000 before on-road costs for the base sDrive18i and extends to $75,500 before on-road costs for the top-spec M35i.
On sale in Australia since 2017, the X2 was conceived off the back of the coupe SUV craze that also spawned the BMW X4 and X6.
UPDATE, 23/08/22 – BMW Australia has increased the before on-road asking price of the X2 range by between $1100 and $1600, depending on the variant.
“BMW constantly reviews its pricing structure throughout the year, taking into consideration a number of different factors,” said a BMW Australia spokesperson.
“However, we always aim to ensure our products remain appropriately positioned and represent a competitive pricing proposition in the market for our customers.”
The X2 is built on the same BMW UKL2 platform that is also used in the BMW X1, 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupe, as well as the Mini Countryman and Clubman.
Its main competition in the small luxury SUV segment is the Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3 Sportback.
To the end of August 2021, BMW sold 425 X2 SUVs according to VFACTS. It was outsold by its BMW X1 (2300) and Mini Countryman (932) siblings, as well as the Jaguar E-Pace (435).
