All 50 examples of the Cupra Formentor VZx Launch Edition have been sold.

Cupra has confirmed the limited-edition variant sold out “shortly after being made available for online sale” at midday yesterday.

The Formentor VZx Launch Edition was listed at $69,990 drive-away, featuring extras usually optional – including the optional Brembo brake package, usually $4150.

Other special appointments fitted to the Australian launch edition include Graphene Grey premium metallic paint and 19-inch Exclusive Sport alloy wheels finished in black and copper. Buyers could option Petrol Blue matte exterior paint for $1825, a $475 saving over the standard Formentor VZx.

As of this morning, Cupra Australia says there’s still “a limited quantity” of the Ateca VZx Launch Edition and Leon VZx Launch Edition for sale. Get the full rundown of the Cupra Launch Edition range here.

Customers who missed out on the 50 Formentor VZx Launch Edition vehicles are being contacted by the company’s local division to “ensure priority for future vehicle arrivals”, with the full Cupra line-up to go on sale in July 2022 – around the same time the special launch editions are due to be delivered to customers.

The Cupra range has already received over 9000 expressions of interest ahead of Australian sales commencing in July, with the brand confirming the Formentor accounts for the bulk of interest. It’s followed by the Born EV, the Spanish brand’s version of the Volkswagen ID.3, due to arrive in “early 2023”.

Cupra says it will have “agents” in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the ACT when first vehicles touch down in July, with the “halo of these City Garages” to be located in Sydney’s CBD. The brand has already confirmed it’s working with a number of dealer partners across the country.
