Some 19 years after the launch of the V-Series, the upcoming Cadillac Escalade V is the brand’s first SUV to be given the V-Series treatment.
While we know that Escalade V will have a V8 engine, specifics about the mill have yet to be revealed. It’s widely expected the Escalade V will have the same 6.2-litre supercharged V8 as the CT5-V Blackwing.
In the sedan the supercharged V8 is tuned to deliver 498kW of power and 880Nm of torque, and delivers this to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.
If true, it will be a big step up in performance from the naturally-aspirated 313kW 6.2-litre V8 currently fitted to the Escalade range.
Distinguishing the Escalade V from lesser models is a largely chrome-free exterior.
The V’s large grille is fitted with black mesh insert, and the front bumper is a unique piece with a larger lower intake and bolder surrounds for the driving lights.
Along the side the Escalade V features chunkier black sills and lower rubbing strips. The doors are adorned with the largest V-Series badges to date, while monochrome Cadillac badges look like they’ll be an option.
There’s a new rear bumper with pair of dual-tip exhaust outlets, a diffuser-style element and extra lashings of black plastic. The spoiler at the top of the tailgate seems to jut out a little further than on regular Escalade variants.
The car rides on 18-spoke alloy wheels with a gunmetal grey finish and V branding on its spokes. Judging from the issued photos, the Escalade V will sit a little closer to the ground than the regular SUV.
On the inside we expect to see plenty of V-Series branding, carbon-fibre trim pieces, and, hopefully, grippier seats up front.
Retuned adaptive air suspension and Magnetic Ride Control dampers, as well as bigger brakes, will likely be part of the package too.
Given the Escalade V’s sporty focus, it may be offered only with the short-wheelbase body.
Further details about the Escalade V will be announced in the second quarter of 2022. Prices will probably be north of US$100,000 ($140,000).
