The 2024 Renault Megane E-Tech had its price slashed by $10,000 in May this year, and the brand has confirmed the discounted recommended retail pricing will be continued for the foreseeable future.
The Renault Megane E-Tech Techno EV60 now continues to be offered at $54,990 before on-roads. This asking price was originally intended to last until June 30 as an temporary end-of-financial-year offer.
When the Megane E-Tech launched locally earlier this year it was priced from $64,990 before on-roads.
“Our job is to listen to the market and the needs of our customers to ensure we remain competitive,” said Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey.
“The decision to continue the existing price for Megane E-Tech was influenced by the increased demand for the vehicle we’ve seen across our network since its introduction.”
When the discount was first announced, the Megane E-Tech joined three other electric vehicles (EVs) – the Polestar 2, Peugeot E-2008 and Nissan Leaf – to have its price cut ahead of EOFY.
Since Australian deliveries of the Megane E-Tech began in February 2024, Renault has reported 171 examples as sold.
For context, the Tesla Model Y – priced from $55,900 before on-road costs – has notched up 12,516 sales so far this year, and leads the way as the best-selling EV in the country.
The Renault Megane E-Tech Techno EV60 is powered by a single electric motor, producing 160kW of power and 300Nm of torque, which drives the front wheels.
Its 60kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides a claimed driving range of 454km on the WLTP test cycle, consuming 15.6kWh per 100km.
It can be charged at up to 7.4kW when hooked up to an AC wall box, or up to 130kW when plugged into a DC public fast charger.
