Suzuki Australia has introduced two new blacked-out Swift variants to the local line-up, though they’re not available nationwide.
Suzuki has two distributors in this country – Suzuki Australia and Suzuki Queensland – and the Swift line-up varies depending on state.
The Swift GL Shadow and GLX Turbo Shadow are available in every Australian state besides Queensland.
They’re priced from $28,490 drive-away and $33,990 drive-away respectively, which are $4500 and $2700 more expensive than the cars they’re based on.
For this extra money the two Swift models gain 16-inch black alloy wheels, black side mirror covers, black decals, as well as a Shadow badge. All other specifications are identical.
As previously reported, Suzuki Australia has been rolling out a range of permanent blacked-out variants. The Swift Shadow is now the final piece of this puzzle.
The range technically started with the limited-edition Baleno Shadow that was introduced as a send-off special, and was then followed by the Ignis Shadow and Vitara Shadow.
The current, third-generation Swift hatchback was revealed in 2016 and received a facelift in 2020.
Until the end of August this year, Suzuki has sold a total of 4615 examples of the Swift in Australia. This makes it the second top-selling light car, following the MG 3 (10,642 sales).
The Suzuki Swift has outsold the likes of the soon-to-be-axed Kia Rio (3943 sales), Mazda 2 (3548 sales), as well as the Toyota Yaris (1277 sales).

The 2024 Suzuki Swift’s standard engine is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 66kW of power and 120Nm of torque. It’s mated to either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Swift GLX Turbo variants are powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 82kW and 160Nm. This is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Swift Sport has a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 103kW and 230Nm. This is mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
The 2024 Suzuki Swift uses 4.6 litres per 100km with the 1.2-litre manual powertrain, 4.8 litres per 100km in the 1.2-litre CVT models, 5.1 litres per 100km with the GLX Turbo models, and 6.1 litres per 100km for the Swift Sport.
All models have a 37-litre fuel tank.
All models require a minimum of 91 RON regular unleaded petrol, where all turbocharged variants require a minimum of 95 RON premium unleaded petrol.
The 2024 Suzuki Swift measures 3845mm long (3890mm in the Sport), 1735mm wide, and 1495mm tall, with a 2450mm wheelbase.
Boot space is 242 litres, expanding to 556 litres with the rear seats folded (VDA).
The Swift Sport has slightly more boot space as it has a tyre repair kit instead of a spare tyre, measuring 265 litres and 579 litres.
The 2024 Suzuki Swift is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Capped-price servicing varies depending on whether the car is sold in Queensland or the rest of Australia, and also what engine it has.
