The 2023 Suzuki Swift has received some minor specification adjustments including a new, larger touchscreen, but prices have increased. Light, fun and affordable. There's plenty to like about the newly facelifted Suzuki Swift.
Suzuki has two distributors in this country – Suzuki Australia and Suzuki Queensland – and the Swift line-up varies depending on the state.
For 2023, outside of Queensland you can buy a Swift in GL S, GL S Plus, GLX Turbo and Sport guises. The old GL and GL Plus no longer appear on Suzuki’s website, and the new GL S and GL S Plus include LED headlights, climate control air-conditioning and keyless entry and start as standard.
In Queensland, the range comprises GL Navigator, GL, GL Plus, GLX Turbo and Sport, with the new national GL S and GL S Plus marketed as the GL Limited Edition and GL+ Limited Edition.

An iconic model in the Suzuki range, the Swift has stood the test of time of by creating a brand within a brand. With its popularity a peak levels with the first generation, the second-generation remains a great looker for the young at heart.
All Sport models plus Queensland’s GL Navigator are the only variants to retain the brand’s 7.0-inch screen, with all other models receiving a larger 9.0-inch unit fitted locally (pictured above).
The 9.0-inch unit sourced from China still has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but there’s no satellite navigation.
The sat-nav-equipped 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth audio and phone connectivity, AM/FM radio (but no DAB+), iPod compatibility and USB/12V outlets has seen fresher days but for what it offers, including proprietary sat-nav at this price point, it’s effective enough with a sharp display and lag-free response.
Most buyers will presumably leverage its smartphone mirroring and despite the small-ish screen it delivers as expected. And, while it lacks a volume knob – a feature making a triumphant return to car interior features – its slider arrangement is easy to acclimatise to.
Dual frontal, side chest and side head-protecting (curtain) airbags are standard on all models, as is a reversing camera.
All bar the GL Navigator, GL and GL S also include:
The Swift wears a 2017-dated five-star ANCAP safety rating, scoring 35.13 out of a possible 37 points in local testing.
Models without the above mentioned safety suite have a lower four-star rating, with a score of 32.49 out of 37.
The 2022 Suzuki Swift uses 4.6L/100km with the 1.2-litre manual powertrain, 4.8L/100km in 1.2-litre CVT models, 5.1L/100km as a GLX Turbo and 6.1L/100km in Sport models.
All models have a 37L fuel tank.
Turbocharged models require 95 RON premium unleaded fuel, while all other models can use 91 RON.
